Joseph Montferrand, was a French-Canadian logger who was known for his strength. Legend has it, he could remove tree stumps from the ground with his bare hands. Statue was created by sculptor Roger Langevin and is located between the Covered Twin Bridges.
This power station was originally built in 1937 and closed in 1989. In June 2003, the station was re-named to honour Daniel Larocque, a native of Mont-Laurier that managed over 50 power stations in the region. A commemorative plaque is located in a nearby park, marking Larocque's achievements.
